If you like a car that has a lush interior and great handling, a Volkswagen Golf could by your perfect choice. These cars resemble the Jetta, with the exception that the Golf has a hatchback. They are sleek enough to be stylish, but comfortable enough to feel at home during a weekend jaunt.
You can choose to get a two-door or four-door style, and there are four engine options currently available. The engines come with a horsepower of 115 (the 2 litre engine), 90 (the 1.9L Turbo diesel), or 150 (the 1.8L Turbo). If the car you are looking to buy was made in 2004, you will find a car with a less noisy engine that has a h.p. of 100. If you are into sporting vehicles, you can choose a GTI, which uses many of the same structure components as the Golf. It can have a sport suspension and either a VR6 engine or a 1.8 turbo.
The VW Golf is known for being among the safest of small cars. It has airbags everywhere you would want them: you get front airbags for the passenger and driver and side airbags up front, as well. The four-wheel disc brakes are included in standard Golf’s, even though this braking system is one you almost never find on cars of such small size.
The Golf has scored very highly in crash tests. You have the option of adding the Stability Control or Traction Control depending on your wishes and needs. The Golf is a front-wheel drive car.
When buying a used Volkswagen Golf, you should pay close attention to the electronic aspects, from the power locks to the windows and the dome lights. Look at every interior piece that could conceivably get broken, including the cupholder, the lid of the glove box, and the armrest. Check on the car’s history records, as well. You don’t want to buy a car that has been in an accident or has a false reading on the odometer.

Hire a knowledgeable mechanic to run a full inspection on the car you are planning to purchase. This can save you a lot of money down the road. You should also look into buying an extended warranty, as many dealerships are not able to repair Volkswagens.
The interior of the Volkswagen Golf is one of its best selling points. It is as classy as a luxury car but can be purchased at an affordable price, even when you are buying a new model. It truly makes this car unique among the other compacts in its price range. You can customize your VW Golf to include lots of optional features.
Once you have bought a Golf, you should have it maintained at a Volkswagen dealership or a shop that is at least familiar with Volkswagen cars. When you change the timing belt (and this will be required at some point), you should also change the water pump. Be sure to make sure your engine oil remains clean and at an adequate level.
